Description
The 45-degree wye is a Y-shaped fitting used to combine or branch two central vacuum piping runs at a 45° angle rather than a perpendicular 90° split. The angled design creates significantly less airflow turbulence and suction loss than a standard tee — making it the preferred fitting for combining two pipe runs at the power unit or at any junction where maintaining maximum suction is important.
Fits: Standard 2″ central vacuum PVC piping systems.
Wye vs. Tee:
For branching where the flow continues in the same general direction (like at the power unit inlet where two pipe runs merge), a 45° wye preserves airflow far better than a 90° tee. For branching to inlet valves in a wall (where the branch is perpendicular to the run), a tee is the correct fitting.
