Description
The exhaust muffler attaches to the exhaust port of a central vacuum power unit to reduce the noise generated by the motor exhaust airflow. Central vacuum units exhaust used air out of the canister — typically through the side or back of the unit — and the high-velocity exhaust can create a noticeable whooshing or whistling sound, particularly in utility rooms or garages adjacent to living spaces. The muffler diffuses this exhaust airflow, reducing noise levels at the exhaust point.
Compatibility: Fits standard central vacuum power unit exhaust ports. Confirm the exhaust port diameter on your unit before ordering.
Installation: The muffler typically threads or press-fits onto the exhaust port. For units exhausting into the wall or an exterior vent, a muffler may not be necessary — it’s most useful for units exhausting directly into an enclosed utility space.
